SUMMARY:Introduction to Playwriting Workshop (ages 12-18)
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Playwriting\nIn this workshop students will learn the fundamentals of dramatic writing\, including character development\, plot structure\, and dialogue\, through a combination of writing exercises\, script analysis\, and peer feedback. This workshop concludes with students creating individual monologues and/or short scenes + a live stage reading. \n  \nCURRICULUM \n\nFoundational concepts: Introduction to playwriting\, theatricality\, and finding inspiration.\nCharacter development: Creating believable characters with clear objectives\, motivations\, and “inner life”.\nPlot and structure: Mapping the story\, understanding conflict and obstacles\, and building dramatic tension.\nDialogue: Writing compelling\, character-specific dialogue that sounds realistic while serving the plot.\nRevision and feedback: Participating in workshops to give and receive constructive criticism\, rewriting based on constructive feedback\, and learning stages of revision.\n\n  \nACTIVITIES & EXERCISES \n\nWriting prompts: Generating ideas and writing scenes based on specific prompts.\nCharacter exercises: Creating character maps or writing monologues from a character’s perspective.\nScene writing: Focusing on a specific aspect of craft\, like action or dialogue\, in short scenes.\nReading aloud: Hearing one’s own work read aloud to catch issues and understand its impact.\n\n  \n  \nAGES: 12-18 (Level: Beginner-Intermediate) \nTUITION: $165.00 (must have current 25/26 annual registration) + processing fee \nWHEN: 6:00-7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays\, January 21-March 11\, 2026. SUMMARY:Musical Theatre Kids Workshop (ages 5-10)
DESCRIPTION:Musical Theatre Kids: Adventures in Oz\n  \nThis workshop includes foundational musical theatre skills like voice\, movement\, stage direction\, and physical awareness\, along with acting and performance techniques. The curriculum aims to build confidence\, concentration\, imagination\, and creativity through a mix of theatre games\, production\, and group activities. \n  \nCore skills and techniques: \n\nVoice and movement: Exercises focus on breath support\, vocal projection\, and public speaking along with physical awareness in a performance based environment.\nImagination and concentration: Group exercises and games are used to build focus and concentration plus explore with the imagination.\nCharacter development: Techniques are taught for creating believable and authentic characters.\nCollaboration: Students will learn to work with one another to create a cast/team setting to achieve a common goal.\n\n  \nThis workshop concludes with a mini-showcase performance on our main stage free for family & friends to attend. \n  \n  \nAPPEARANCE: Students must dress appropriately for movement. Shoes should be either dance shoes or sneakers secured with laces or velcro. No open-toe shoes\, flip-flops\, sandals\, or crocs. \nNOTE: Bring a healthy snack + a water bottle with your student’s name on it. \n  \n  \nAGES: 5-10 (Level: Beginner-Intermediate) \nWHEN: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; Saturdays\, January 24-February 28\, 2026 (6 sessions).
