DESCRIPTION:Teen Kids Cabaret \nStudents will have a blast in this week-long summer camp as they sing and dance to styles ranging from classic musical theatre to funky hip-hop. They’ll build confidence playing improv games\, working on group acting scenes\, and so much more! On the final day of camp\, there is a live performance on the main stage\, free for family and friends to attend! \nLunch & Snacks: Students must bring a healthy lunch each day and two snacks each day. Bring a water bottle with your child’s name on it. \nAppearance: Students are required to wear dance shoes or sneakers secured with laces or velcro. No open-toe shoes\, flip-flops\, sandals\, or crocs. Clothing must be appropriate for dancing/movement. Hair must be pulled back and away from the face. \nYour tuition includes: \n\nAdministrative fees\nProduction materials (script & access to digital recording of rehearsal tracks)\nDirection / instruction from a trained and experienced artistic team\nProps\, sounds\, performance music tracks\, stage mics and lights for final performance\n5 days of instruction\, dress rehearsal\, and 1 live performance\nComplimentary admission for friends and family to attend the final performance\n\nNOTE: Individual costumes will be the responsibility of the actor. As Vera teaches each element\, you will put it into action in order to see the practical application of the concept at work. You will learn the whys and the hows of the actor’s craft. You will develop the ultimate actor’s toolbox that you will be able to draw from when you are developing a character for a stage or screen. This is a unique and outstanding learning opportunity that will yield extraordinary results. Students should come prepared with a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue. For the past 22 years\, she had also been a member of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. She has directed more than 50 productions\, originally working with Joe Hyman\, who produced the famed playwright-director-author\, Moss Hart\, on Broadway. \nShe has taught such notables as Debbie Allen\, Anthony Anderson\, Chadwick Boseman\, Corey Hawkins\, Taraji P. Henson\, Isaiah Johnson\, Jayme Lawson\, Phylicia Rashad\, Wendy Raquel Robinson\, Fredericka Whitfield\, Lynn Whitfield\, and Isaiah Washington. \nShe is the author of A Katz Walk: A Toolbox of Techniques for Actors and Directors\, with a foreword by Phylicia Rashad. DESCRIPTION:On January 17\, 2023\, it was with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to a special person. A valued and beloved member of the CTA community\, Darrell F. Conley was a staunch supporter of the arts and education. His love of theatre both on stage and off was a joy to be a part of. Another love of his was Christmas and the holiday season. From Thanksgiving and on\, decorations were up\, holiday movies were on\, and the holiday spirit was clear. \n\n\n\nIn celebration of his life\, joy\, and love\, CTA  is proud to have the first annual DFC Holiday Cabaret. This family friendly event will honor all of these things\, and most importantly\, Darrell.\n\nShowcasing past and present CTA talent\, fun holiday snacks and games\, along with a visit from Santa and his bag of gifts\, this promises to be a wonderful and joyous holiday celebration.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClick here for tickets!

DESCRIPTION:The comedic script has been selected. The Director has been chosen. Now it’s up to our students to be performance ready in just three days in this whirlwind workshop! Students will \n\nbe put through a placement audition process & cast in the show on Day 1 (all students will perform in the show)\,\nmemorize all lines & blocking\,\nwork on character development\,\nwork on scene study\,\ncostume themselves according to their character from materials supplied by CTA\,\nand be show-ready (off book) for the performance for friends & family on the final day.\n\nThis is a fast-paced workshop where students will be put through the paces of putting together a performance-ready production in just three days (21 hours of class time). Students should be intermediate to advanced level in order to be able to accomplish everything within the time allotted. This will be a race against the clock to the finish.
