Meet the Cast: Drew Sharpe, "Lumiere"
Meet the cast of Beauty and the Beast, playing at Children's Theatre of Annapolis from January 12-28, 2018!
Drew Sharpe, a 15-year-old ninth-grader from Annapolis, plays Lumiere.
What do you love about your character? There’s so much I love about my character. His charisma and larger-than life character is so much fun to portray.
Why did you want to be involved in this production? This is an amazing show, and it can either be done right or wrong. The production staff really intrigued me, and they seriously know what they’re doing with the show. Also, the role is such a fun one!
What is your favorite song in the show? Not to be biased or anything, but "Be Our Guest." It is extremely memorable and it is the largest number in the show. It’s very fun to run around, just having fun doing what I’m doing.
If you could play any other character in the show, who would it be? If I could play any other character in the show, it would probably have to be Gaston because I’ve never played a villain before!
What's your favorite thing about playing your character? Because of his character, it’s fun to find new places to add things in to. He’s just so fun, that’s all I can say! What do you do when you are not doing theatre? I mainly do homework (not fun at all) but I do enjoy playing piano as well as annoying my family.
When did you first perform on stage? My elementary school librarian assistant introduced me to theater when I was 8 and my first show was A Christmas Carol.
What is your favorite show outside of this show and why? I really like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (and SpongeBob the Musical) because both leads are extremely charismatic and the shows are out of this world. I love those types of shows and characters!
