CTA’s 2019-2020 season is in full swing—rehearsals for “Tarzan” are underway, workshops start later this month and, believe it or not, auditions for “The Hobbit” are just over a month away. It’s primetime for acquiring your season subscriptions, which ensures that you have tickets to your preferred showtime before it sells out and that you get your preferred seats (though, in CTA’s auditorium, no seat is a bad seat!) Plus, season subscribers receive a small per-ticket discount.
If you didn’t hear already, CTA got a few pieces of exciting news over the summer. First, our November 2018 production of “Peter Pan” won the Ruby Griffith Award for first runner-up for Outstanding Achievement in a Musical. Right after that exciting day in July, CTA learned we had been named Best Theatre Company by the readers of The Capital.
These awards just validate what everyone involved with the organization already knows: CTA puts on a great show. Of course, a key part of putting on a great show is ensuring that the audience can hear the talent of the performers, which is why the tech crew outfits a number of actors in each production with a body microphone.
After years of use, CTA’s body microphones need to be replaced to ensure that every cast member can be heard — and they cost $9,000. An anonymous donor has generously agreed to match up to $5,000 to replace those microphones, but in order to reach the total amount, we need your help!
