CTA’s first priority is to our families and staff. We are currently remaining open and all regular business operations are proceeding. Per the current advice of Anne Arundel Health officials, we will most likely remain open unless a member of the CTA community, or an adjacent community, tests positive for COVID-19. We will follow the lead of our partner schools in terms of individual performance cancellations. Communication about such closures would run through the same method that snow delays/cancellations are communicated, posted on our website and social media.
We are closely watching the reports out of the CDC and the State of Maryland and are following the CDC’s recommendations for cleaning surfaces and hand washing. All actors and staff who enter the CTA’s theater are required to wash their hands for at least 30 seconds before more contact is made with others.
Prevention Guidelines: (from MD Department of Health)
There is no vaccine available for COVID-19. In general, people can protect themselves and others against respiratory viruses by taking the following precautions:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, or having been in a public place.
If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol
Cover your mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
If you are sick, stay home from work or school
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
Practice good health habits
Please be aware of the following symptoms (from MD Department of Health). Commonly reported symptoms of COVID-19 infection include:
Shortness of breath
While the exact incubation period for this coronavirus has not yet been determined, it is believed that most infected people will develop symptoms 2-14 days after they were exposed. It is important to stay at home if you have any of these symptoms and let your doctor know right away. https://phpa.health.maryland.gov/Pages/Novel-coronavirus.aspx
At this time, if your child is not ill, there is no reason for parents to keep their children away from activities at CTA. However, all children who exhibit a fever & other symptoms at CTA, CTA staff will require parents/guardians to come immediately to pick-up their child and will be asked about their recent travel, including whether they or someone in their family has traveled to an impacted country (currently designated as China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea). Once your child no longer exhibits signs of a fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher) & has been fever-free for 24 hours without medication they are welcome to return.
We will continue to post updates and any changes to our mainstage productions, fundraiser evening or education classes on our website and social media channels.
